Welcome to Ascension Lutheran Preschool’s Blog, this blog and newsroom is for the parents of children attending our program. It is password protected so only our families may see the posts here. We hope to make the children’s learning visible. Our focus is to discuss the their work and provide you information on many of the things that are happening here.
We would love for all of the parents of children in our program to participate in these conversations. There will be no bells and whistles to distract you with, instead we hope to focus on explaining what’s really important in our center. We want you to see our intentions, participate in our reflections, and grow together.
Sharing the learning that happens here lies at the heart of our program. We are trying to figure out how to more effectively and efficiently connect with and inform you. That’s what led us to launch this format of communication and inspired us to become immersed in the world of social media and social networking.
If you ask you child, “What did you do in school today?” You are likely to hear responses such as, “nothing” or “played”. These words do not express any of the things he or she learned with their friends. Yet, if you ask more precise questions about the information you find on this blog, you may have meaningful conversations about his or her day at school.
What To Expect In “Current Happenings”
In this blog, the teachers and I will share some of the experiences that your children are having at school- bridging activities and reflection- as we develop stronger connections with you.
We will describe our work together, including photos and short video clips of the children’s learning in action, so that you may become an active part of our educational process. Yes, we want you to be aware of what your child is doing while you are away and how you might continue building new understandings for them when you are together.
We will also share with you news and events relating to our program that will help build community with the other families here. We expect that ideas and topics will come up along the way and we hope you will find them relevant.
As we share with you, you will be exposed to our perceptions. We would love for you to respond, add comments and suggestions. Even disagree. We ask that we keep comments relevant to the conversations taking place here, so that we can maintain respect for all those involved and add value and depth to our discussions.
We hope to quickly remove any comments that are offensive, disrespectful or irrelevant. However, if you are offended by anything that is posted, please let us know. We truly want you to add to the conversation and engage without any negativity, we welcome all of your positive perspectives.
Oh, and please don’t post any private information as this is a public forum, you may email personal conversations to us. This forum is reaching all of the families with children in our center.
Thank you for reading and participating, and helping build a forum focused on what’s truly important and relevant, your child’s growth and development.
